Two new types have joined Datcon’s popular DT4227.. process indicator
The DT4227.. Process indicator, which can be used in many areas of industry, owes its popularity primarily to its 57 mm character height, high-brightness LED display that can be read clearly from up to 30 m away.
The large display allows operators to clearly see critical parameters even from further away in the work area, because in many cases the devices cannot be placed directly near the technology (e.g. high temperature, high humidity, etc.). The lighting conditions in production halls are often very variable, and the adjustable brightness of the display serves to compensate for this.
The above type is used to receive 0–20 mA / 4–20 mA / 0 –10 V / 2-10 V input signal ranges and display them in physical measurement units, so a wide range of transmitter signal converters can be fitted to the device.
Another advantage is that it contains a power supply – for powering the transmitters – so that in the case of passive two-wire transmitters, auxiliary power is not required.
Now two new “family members” are joining this type:
- The DT4227 Ptxx: which measures and displays the temperature detected by the Pt100 / Pt500 / Pt1000 temperature sensor connected to its input, or the value of the resistor / potentiometer connected to its input, in the range of 0-500 Ω / 0-5 kΩ.
This type is primarily used for temperature measurement, but the resistance or potentiometer measurement function is also often very useful: e.g. for displaying the position of a rotary or linear actuator.
The sensor, resistor, potentiometer can be connected to the device with 2 / 3 / 4 wires, in the case of 4-wire measurement, the wire resistance does not affect the measurement even if the sensor is placed at a great distance, and - the DT4227 RS, which is used to display signed numerical values or messages with a limited character set transmitted via the RS485 communication interface – MODBUS RTU slave protocol.
In PLC or SCADA systems, it allows numerical values or short messages to be “sent” and displayed in the technological area. The controller can communicate with several devices on one communication bus, which simplifies cabling.
The usability of the devices has been significantly improved. In addition to the front panel push buttons, which can be used to set the necessary parameters via a multi-step menu system, a (free) single-screen setup program is also available, which makes configuring the devices much more convenient. The configuration computer can be connected to the devices via a USB interface. The set parameters are password-protected against unauthorized access.
The previously optional dual limit relay output (SPST) is now standard for all models.
The panel instrument with a front panel size of 288 × 96 mm has an installation depth of <80 mm.
The devices can be ordered with two power supplies:
- 24 VDC ±10% or
- 230 V AC/DC ±10%.
